Bee paralysis, also known as black bee disease or paralysis, is a common infection of adult bees. This disease is very harmful to the bee colony and can make the bees lose their ability to live. The epidemic range is large.
Pathogen
Chronic paralysis virus. It is also contained in many tissues of bees, including brain, ganglion, maxillary gland and mandibular gland. The virus can remain toxic in bee carcasses for more than two years. When heated to 90 degrees for 30 seconds Can be killed.
Symptoms
The symptoms of chronic paralysis are divided into two types: big belly type and black bee type.
Big-bellied type: Infected bees have enlarged abdomens and lose their ability to fly. They crawl slowly on the ground or in the grass around the hive, trembling all over, and sometimes it can be seen that most sick bees gather on the top of the nest frame and the bottom of the hive.
Black bee type: In the initial stage of infection, it can still fly, but the body surface is shed and shiny. It is often chased by healthy bees. After a few days, it trembles and loses the ability to fly, and finally exhausts and died. These two symptoms are found at the same time in some bee colonies, but it is generally considered that the queen bee is the predominant one, the big belly type is the predominant type in early spring and late fall, and the black bee type is considered to be the main type in summer and autumn.
Prevention method
Strengthen feeding management, keep sufficient feed in the nest, and increase nutritious feed. When the diseased bees are removed, a new beehive can be placed on the original box, the diseased spleen will be lifted out, and the bees will be shaken to the door of the box and put the spleen in In the new box, healthy bees quickly crawled into the hive, and most of the sick bees stayed in front of the nest. They can collect the sick bees and bury them, and replace the queen bee in the sick colony.
